THE PACKET PROBLEM BY THE NUMBERS
Let's do the math.
The average committed user of a daily hydration product uses one serving per day. One serving equals one packet — one piece of plastic, foil, or laminate that cannot be meaningfully recycled.
One packet per day. 365 packets per year. Per person.
The leading brands in the hydration category sell tens of millions of units annually. The packaging waste from daily hydration habits alone represents a significant and almost entirely invisible environmental cost.
It's invisible because each individual packet seems trivial. A tiny foil wrapper. You use it once. You throw it away. You move on.
The accumulation is the problem.
WHY REUSABLE HYDRATION IS HARD TO FIND
The single-use packet is not the industry default because it's the best format. It's the default because it's the cheapest to manufacture, the easiest to distribute, and the most resistant to quality degradation during the supply chain.
Reusable systems require more engineering. A container that protects the product from humidity, light, and air. A refill mechanism that maintains freshness. A format compact enough to live in a bag without taking up the space of a protein powder tub.
These problems are solvable. Most brands just haven't prioritized solving them.
HOW THE FIZZII SYSTEM WORKS
The Fizzii system has two components:
THE TIN
A reusable premium tin designed to hold 12 pearls. Sealed lid to protect against humidity and air exposure. Compact enough to fit in any bag. Designed to sit on a desk or counter without being hidden. Built to last indefinitely — the tin is never thrown away.
THE REFILL POUCH
When your tin is empty, you order a refill pouch — not a new tin. The pouch contains 12 new pearls. You fill the tin. You keep going.
One tin. Refilled indefinitely.
THE ENVIRONMENTAL MATH
Here's the comparison:
Traditional packet system (at 1 serving/day):
Year 1: 365 plastic packets. Year 5: 1,825 plastic packets. Lifetime of habit: thousands.
Fizzii reusable system (at 1 serving/day):
Month 1: 1 tin + ~3 refill pouches. Year 1: 1 tin + ~30 refill pouches. The tin: never thrown away.
The refill pouch is not zero waste — we won't claim that. It's a flexible packaging format that uses significantly less material than the equivalent servings in individual packets.
The goal isn't perfection. The goal is meaningful reduction.
KEY TAKEAWAY
The Fizzii refill system produces approximately 1/12th the packaging waste of single-use packet brands at equivalent use frequency. One tin. Refilled. Not replaced.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Sustainability in CPG is a complicated topic. No consumer product is truly zero impact. Supply chains involve shipping, manufacturing, materials sourcing — none of it is without footprint.
We're not claiming to have solved the environmental impact of hydration.
We're claiming to have built a system that makes the conscious choice the easy choice. Where choosing Fizzii over a packet brand is a decision that matters — not a sacrifice.
The tin is beautiful enough to want on your counter. The refill system is simple enough to maintain without thinking about it. The environmental outcome is meaningfully better than the alternative.
That's what we were going for.
